Social marketing is a very powerful tool if you need to drive lots of targeted traffic to your websites or blogs. I am going to discuss the different types of social media sites and how you can benefit from them.

The first websites we will talk about are called communities. These sites are the most powerful because this is where you can actually build your own profile and tell people about yourself and even your website or your business. It is like having your own community where you can make friends and join other communities that you might like. The most popular site is called myspace; this is where you go and create your profile and find people and become friends with them. Facebook and Bebo are also other community sites that are also very powerful promotional tools. Once you sign up to these websites you can create your profile and get started making friends and engaging in these online communities.

The other type of social websites are called libraries. Sometimes it’s often referred to social bookmarking. On these sites you post websites that you think have good value for people to go and check out. Most of these sites allow you to give your opinion of sites that people post and even give the website a rating. These sites can be very powerful because if you have a good website with some good information on it people will begin to give it good ratings and it will get your website higher into the search engines. There are hundreds of social bookmarking websites are out there but I prefer to submit my website to the top social bookmarking sites. I would at least submit my bookmarks to websites that have at least a PR of five or greater. I suggest going to socialmarker.com and signing up for at least all the best social bookmarking sites. You don’t want to do too much self promotion otherwise these websites will ban you.

What you could do is find some websites with good information and then submit those sites for bookmarking. I would suggest bookmarking your sites 25% of the time and bookmark other websites for 75% of the time. This way the bookmarking sites won’t know which websites are yours and they won’t ban you for too much self promotion.

The last type of social marketing is notice boards. Here you can post regular updates about your website or anything related to your websites. Blogs are great examples of notice boards where you can post anything you want and update it on a regular basis. This is a great way for people to keep track of what you are doing and whats going on. Twitter is the most popular website for having a notice board. Here you can submit your website and people can keep track of you and all your websites that you create. You can also update them with your progress on your business as well.

These are all the different types of social marketing that is available for driving traffic to your website. One thing to note is all of these sites are free to join and they are all user driven. This means the user decides if your website is good enough to be recognized by other users. So make sure you create a decent website with good information otherwise it won’t get anywhere.

Because people’s interests often change over time, it is important for a successful marketer to stay up-to-date on current trends. By using free services, the niche blogger can quickly adapt to the changing market and create a new blog marketed to that niche.

Traffic generation

In order for a website to be profitable, it must have visitors. Normal websites require search engine optimization or paid advertisement in order to gain visitors. Blog services like Blogger, on the other hand, incorporate Really Simple Syndication (RSS). Using this technology, the niche blogger can inform various online directories of the blog’s existence. They, in turn, provide links to the blog. Visitors to these directories are then exposed to the blog’s listing and may choose to visit the blog. Thus, the directories act as a marketing tool for the niche blogger.
